FACTORY IN BERLIN

FREQUENT EXPLOSIONS

LONDON,. March 28,

The Berlin correspondent of tiie British United Press reports that a fire occurred at 10 o'clock last night in a munitions factory in northern Berlin and ,that it was still burning at midnight. Frequent explosions were heard. Many fire engines rushed to the scene. Apparently none of ;the explosions heard was very great. An authorised German statement says that several sheds filled with timber were' destroyed but that che fire was subdued before it reached other.parts of the premises. The flames lit up the northern' part of the city for several hours. , The factory involved is believed to be that of the Bergmahn. Electrical' Products, Ltd., which is how producing rifles, machine-guns, and other smallcalibre munitions. [■ The fire brigades succeeded in isolating the blaze to one section of the factory. The Gestapo, in addition to ordinary police, formed a cordon for miles ' round the factory.
