WELLINGTON SKETCH CLUB
Mr. Angus Grey was - the critic at an exhibition of pictures held at the Wellington Sketch Club recently. The work exhibited was a varied and interesting collection, Mr. Grey remarking that he was pleasantly surprised at the standard of the work shown. He criticised each picture carefully and in a very capable manner, pointing out mistakes and offering helpful suggestions and improvements. A competition was held for the best picture shown, Mr. Grey acting as judge. The prize of £1 Is awarded by Mr. Harry H. Tombs, was won by Mrs. R. S. Parker (N.Bolton) for a very pleasing and spontaneous water colour. Ref-rence was made to the success of the club's exhibit at the Centennial Exhibition. The chairman,* Mr. Langesen, remarked v that it was very gratifying to know that, the public were taking such an interest in amateur art and that if . this exhibition Was assisting any movement lor the appreciation of art in Wellington, th« club was well satisfied with its effort. ■
