j The Labour Ministry announces that on March 1 the official cost of living index figure was 79 per cent, above the level of July, 1914, compared with 77 per cent, on February .1. The rise of two points in the month is equivalent to rather more than 1 per cent. (The index figure for food, was the same, namely, 61 per. cent, above the level of July, 1914, but ' there were increases during the month in the prices of clothing and coal.
