CAXTON HALL SHOOTING

"I DID NOT MEAN TO KILL"

INDIAN IN COURT

(By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright.) (Received March 15, 10 a.m.)

LONDON, March 14. Mahomed Singh Azad, aged 37, described as an engineer, of North London, was remanded at Bow Street to March 21 on a charge of feloniously murdering Sir Michael O'Dwyer at Caxton Hall. A police inspector said that when told of the charge, Azad replied, "I will tell you I made a protest." At the police station later he made a statement which was taken down in writing, after which Azad signed it. He was then charged and cautioned. Then he said: "I did not mean to kill him. I just did it to protest. I did not mean to kill anybody."
