NATURAL OBSTACLES
A MILLION TRAINED MEN UNDERARMS
ALPINE BULWARK

General Übaldo Soddu, the Italian Under-Secretary of War, told the Chamber of Fascists that Italy was ready to defend her liberty of action with a million trained men who were under arms, ahd with a fortified bulwark across the Alpine frontiers. The Italian fortifications were not artificial, like the Maginot and Siegfried Lines, but had been achieved by the strengthening of natural ob-i stacles. This fortification was commenced some time ago. and carried out along all the. frontiers.
