HUTT HIGH SCHOOL

The principal of the Hutt, Valley High School (Mr. J. N. Millard) reported to the Board of Governors last evening that 91 boys and 103 girls (new pupils) had enrolled during, the last week; as against 88 and 91 respectively last .year. , -The school roll was now 519, as against 522 at the same time last year, pwing to the; large number of. pupils who had passed the University Entrance Examination many of the pupils had found employment and left school. Eighty-nine pupils had taken the matriculation examination and sixty had passed, being the largest, number in the history of the school. Nineteen pupils had passed the Public Service examination.

Mr. W. Dyer remarked that the school was. not yet feeling the benefit of pupils from the Waterloo or Gracefield schools, as so far, in these new $chools,the,pupils were mostly.younger children. ■■
