FINE DOUBLE
DICKIE AT WANGANUI
Outstanding among the performances at the Wellington v. Wanganui inter-club meeting under electric light at Cook's Gardens, Wanganui, last Saturday • night were those of C. Dickie, the Canterbury one mile champion, who transferred to Wellington this season. Dickie won the A grade half-mile in lmin 57 2-ssec and also the A grade mile in 4min 24 2-ssec, both very good efforts. Since coming to Wellington Dickie has. given an excellent account of himself. He struck form comparatively early, and so far has been able to hold on to it. By now he should know from experience what suits him best, but at the same1 time there is the urge to sound a note of caution about' overdoing things and
just losing that fine. edge that will make all the difference between class and mediocrity when the championship events come along. Dickie is one of the milers who ,have been invited to take part in the Centennial mile event at the special meeting, to be held by the Wellington Amateur Athletic Centre on the, Basin; Reserve on February 10, and there will be keen interest by his Wellington followers on that day in the way he shapes.
