DUNEDIN THUNDERSTORM
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, January 26. A sharp thunderstorm, accompanied
by a torrential downpour of ram, passed over Dunedin this afternoon, The early part of the day was fine, *£™«Z*~>»g£g "X* clouds banked up to the westward, and shortly after 3 o'clock there was by heavy peals of thunder, occurred for about a quarter of an hour, and for the next half-hour there was an exSSS fl SfonC-> y ?nTro\f^ where storm drains were unable to cope with the water. Fortunately there was a sudden change of wind, which dissipated the rain clouds about an hour after the first heavy fall, and although the remainder of the day was showery there was no further heavy rain. No damage was reported in town or on roads in surrounding districts.
