SETTLEMENT IN INDIA

A hopeful view as to early agreement in India is expressed in weekly newspapers.
The "Spectator," in an editorial, says: "The prospects for an agreed settlement in India have considerably improved by tho approyal^qf-the Viceroy's recent Bombay speech, expressed by Mr. Gandhi.' The editorial adds: "Self-government cannot be ' conferred on a divided country. If the necessary .unity is to be achieved considerable restraint and breadth of vision will be called for on the. part of the Indian National Congress and / the Moslem League."
