ALLEGED CHINESE PLOT
JAPANESE PRECAUTIONS

NEW YORK, January 25,
The Shanghai correspondent of the United Press reports that the Japanese military spokesman said extraordinary precautions were being taken to assure the safety of the United States Ambassador in China, Mr. N. T. Johnson, following the discovery of a Chinese plot to assassinate him »n Japanese-controlled territory to cause a crisis in the relations between Japan and America. Mr. Johnson is at present aboard the United States gunboat Luzon on the Yangtze.
