CO-OPERATION NEEDED
NEW YORK, January 25,
The "New York Times" in an editorial says that because New Zealand democracy pointed the way to others in . good citizenship, humane social legislation, and progressive government, the memory of the 1840 settlers deserves honouring in the United States. .
"We Americans hope the war w:JI touch New Zealand lightly." says the paper. "We want this 100-year-young democracy to emerge with its strength and sanity unimpaired. We will need the co-operation of people like tho New Zealanders in putting the democratic world together again at the end of the war."
