"SWITZERLAND"

CLAMOROUS ICE SHOW

"Switzerland," J. C. Williamson's outstanding ice show and ice ballet, is one of those shows which must be seen to be believed. Certainly the audience which packed the Opera House- last night was prepared for a stage presentation quite out of the ordinary, but few could .have expected to see such amazing grace and rhythm in probably the most delightful settings ever brought 'to Wellington. The show is presented in three parts, the first depicting a morning on the ice at Davos Platz, the second fun and frolic in the lounge of a hotel, and the third a costume carnival of real beauty and charm. Megan Taylor, world champion ice skater, is the centrepiece of "Switzerland," her graceful and amazingly expert execution of every conceivable evolution on the ice being almost beyond description. Phil Taylor, with his remarkable stunting on stilts and breath-taking speed, is another performer of whom the audience cannot see too much. There are numerous others whose expertness is almost as great and who contribute their full share to a production that can be seen again and again. The costuming of "Switzerland" is in itself a sheer delight. Comedy abounds, the chief perpetrator being Eddie Marcel, who heads a team of outstanding mirth-provoking talents, including Hal Scott and' Connie Graham, and Eddie Marconi and Tommy Russell, who combine clowning with music in. a most diverting way. "Switzerland" will be presented nightly throughout the week and at a matinee performance on Saturday.
