MEETING OF CREDITORS
Charles Duncan, a butcher, of Wellington, met his creditors in bankruptcy yesterday before the official assignee (Mr. S. Tansley). Unsecured creditors were listed at £144 18s and assets at £35, leaving a deficiency of £109 18s. In his sworn statement the bankrupt said that after working for wages in Wellington he went to Hawke's Bay in 1929 and started a business of his own, but he could not make a success of it because of the depression, and the earthquake shook down his shop. Since then he had been working for wages in Wellington, but he had been unable to make headway because of family ill health, and a judgment against him had forced him to file. He' was unable, to make any offer to his creditors.
The meeting was adjourned sine die.
