"GOTT STRAFE CHURCHILL"

"Gott strafe Churchill. When this goes up, up goes Churchill." This legend appears on one of the mines in the area where recent sinkings of neutral vessels took place. Mr. Churchill came to the front bench at the end of questions in the House of Commons, and, making his way straight to the Prime Minister's side, handed him a document and a photograph. The document gave particulars of the find. The photograph showed the mine with the inscription. They provided a distraction, during, the Chancellor's statement on War Bonds, to several front benchers.
