THE PAPAL LEGATE
OFFICIAL CALLS'.
EXHIBITION VISIT
The Papal Legate to the New Zealand National Eucharistic Congress, Archbishop J. Panico, received the French Consul, in Wellington, M. A. Pouquet, at the Legate's residence, 72 Hobson Street, this morning. Later the Archbishop paid a number of private calls.
Tomorrow he will return yesterday's call from the Chief Justice (the Rt. Hon. Sir Michael Myers). The Mayor of Wellington, Mr. T. C. A. Hislop, will tomorrow return the Legate's official visit of Tuesday.
On Monday the Papal envoy is to be received by the chairman and directors of the Centennial Exhibition Company at the Exhibition at Rongotai.
A civic reception is to be tendered to him at the Town Hall on Tuesday evening, and on Wednesday morning he will lay a wreath at the foot of the Cenotaph—a gesture from the Pope's representative in memory of the fallen. .
