ACCIDENT LIABILITY

The opinions of members of the Auckland Education Board expressed! lat a meeting today indicated emphatic j objection to permitting children to at- j tend the Centennial Exhibition under the aegis of teachers. The point arose when the Department of Education advised that the board would be liable for accidents to children during visits to the Exhibition, and pointed out that great responsibility would devolve * upon the teachers. The Department explained I that the liability would be similar to j that involved when a party of children under a teacher went by tramcar to a museum. Several members said that in such circumstances trips to Wellington should not be encouraged, but.that if children wished to go they should be tinder the control df their parents. Mr.'Macky said this would mean that "many children would be barred from attending. The opinion of the chairman, Mr. Campbell, was that it was' not right that such responsibility should be placed on teachers and the board. ' The. Hon. A.
