REVERENCE FOR DIVINE PRECEPTS
In his reply to President Roosevelt, the Pope sets in clear relief the spiritual issues which arise in the war and must guide the making of peace. "Only those whose political power is combined," he states, "with a clear understanding of the voice of humanity and a sincere reverence for the divine precepts of life found in the Gospel of Christ will be able to discern the path which must be followed."
