BELIEVED DROWNED
A SHIP'S STOKER
'(By Telegraph—Press Association.) GREYMOUTH, January 19. Myles Edmondson, aged 23, a stoker' oh a steamer, is believed to have,been drowned about 9 p.m. in the Grey River. A watersider working on the vessel heard a splash astern, and saw a man swimming till he vanished in midstream. > Edmondson was found to be missing, and a lifeboat was launched from another steamer nearby, and rowed by four seamen down the river and back without finding a trace of Edmondson. He was a single man, a native of Dunedin. It was stated that he had shown evidence of depression during' the day,, but otherwise his companions aboard were unable to account for his disappearance. Edmondson was a good swimmer.
