PIGS AND POULTRY.
The Dominion Auctioneering Co., Ltd.. Palmerston North, reports receiving a medium entry of pigs at their usual weekly sale and a large entry of poultry. Pigs were > somewhat easier in price, particularly for weaners and small stores, the demand for porkers, however, remaining firm. Poultry was: considerably cheaper but in most cases the venders met the market. Fruit and produce were in the usual supply. Prices are as follows: — Pigs.—Best weaners, 16s to 18s 6d; small to backward, 7s 6d to 13s; slips, 16s to 21s; stores, 25s 6d to 30s and 335; porkers, light 37s to 425, heavy £2 4s, £2 10s, to £2 13s. Poultry.—Best W.L. hens, 4s to ss; 8.0. hens, 4s to 6s per pair; cockerels, good 6s to 7s per pair, medium 2s to 55,. light 2s to 3s; small pullets, 3s 5d to 5s 3d each; ducks, 4s to 6s; turkey hens.-to 7s Id each. Produce.—Apples, Strachans 6s to lls 6d per bushel case, Gravenstein 5s to 7s 6d, Homings 5s 6d to 10s 6d; peaches, dessert 5s to 7s 9d, cooking 3s to ,4s 6d; plums, dessert 7s to 9s, cooking 2s to ss; nectarines, 6s to 10s 6d; B.C. pears, 12s to 13s; raspberries, 10s to 12s 6d; black currants, 8s to 9s 9d; cucumbers. 4s 9d to 6s 3d; tomatoes, hothouse 6d to lid per lb, Bay View 3d to 5d per 1b; apricots. Is 6d to 6s; cabbages.
