EXCURSION TO PICTON.
The Anniversay Day excursion by the Rangatira to Picton on Monday will provide passengers with an invigorating sea trip combined with a few enjoyable hours at the little Marlborough port. Making light, at her full speed <?f 23 of the '52-mile trip, only Half :;<& is ' in the .open water of the Strait, the Rangatira should be at Picton by 10.30 a.m. At 11 o'clock a special train will leave for Blenheim, returning in time to connect with the Rangatira. The beautiful surroundings of the little port will offer picnic places and walks for those who elect to stay in Picton itself, while launches will run from the steamer wharf to some of the bays across Queen Charlotte Sound, with lunch obtainable, if required, at the guest houses nearby. The return trip will be made at 2.30 p.m., and the Rangatira should be at Wellington again shortly after 5 o'cldck.
