NAZIS AND DICKENS
German propaganda, apparently tired of concentrating against individuals, now insists that the English character generally is deplorable. It seeks to prove the point oy quoting from the works of Charles Dickens.
The "'Deutsche Allgemeine Zeitung" declares that Mr. Squeers, of Dotheboys Hall, "is a classic symbol of that English hypocrisy which hounded the Polish nation to destruction in order to-annihilate Hitlerism."
Quilp it portrays as a typical blockade organiser, "closely resembling Churchill."
