Brilliant Racing Marks Opening of Wellington Meeting
(By "Rangatira.")
Centennial Wellington Cup Day goes down in history as the -'most successful day's racing ever conducted by the Wellington Racing Club. The course was thronged before ever the racing began, v vT.and although there have been a few days on which larger suras have frnpassed through the totalisator, it is the opinion of the club's >Vi officials, that never previously had there been so huge an attendance. W Except that the club was not prepared for such a crowd, and the. time could not be kept towards the end' of the day, the meeting ?' was perfectly controlled. The racing itself reached a new. high ,! standard. The Wellington Cup was ••a" sterling contest, the two Old Bill and Beau Vite, fighting out a thrilling finish.
