OVER-SUBSCRIBED
CANADIAN WAR LOAN
V OTTAWA, January 17. The Bank" of Canada announced that the waor loan has been over-subscribed. The subscriptions over the two 'days total 248,804,000 dollars., The books remain open for applications from distant communities. The bulk of the domestic war loan, has been taken, by small subscribers/ The largest application so far is pne for 1,000,000 dollars by Mr. R. S. Me-. Laughlin, president of General Motors of Canada. . Mr. Samuel Bronfman; president of the Canadian Jewish Congress, issued a message to Jews urging them to help build a Maginot Line on the economic fronts He said it was the duty and privilege of Jews to participate and contrasted their situation with that of Jews under Nazi tyranny, where money, was ruthlessly taken. Mr. Bronfman and Mr. B. Aaron jointly subscribed 500,000 dollars. ■ '
