IMPROVED SERVICE
(To the Editor.)
V Sir,—May I,draw the attention of the Railway Department to a .-small'alteration to a timetable which would bring them increased business and be a great convenience to a number of suburban dwellers. The rail-car from New Plymouth gets into Wellington at 11.40 p.m., while the last train on the Johnsonville line leaves 10 minutes earlier at 11.30 p.m. and the last bus for Khandallah at 11.20 p.m, This means that anyone living in the northern suburbs has to take a taxi home, which; costs a substantial sum if the trip is right to Johnsonville or even to Khandallah. If the rail-car could be speeded up slightly (which appears to be well within the capacity of this fast and luxurious vehicle) or the last train or bus delayed, there should be no great difficulty in making the connection. The Department has already done
riuch to provide the public with greatly improved travelling facilities during the last few years and this small further improvement would mean a lot to the people affected.—l am, etc.,
