The engagement is announced of Joyce Winifred, the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. C.Banfield, Rangiora, Christchurch, to Lewis Alfred Gideon, the only son of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. J. Hatch, Brooklyn. '
The engagement is announced between William Joseph, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs! W. Martin, of Wellington, and Kathleen Margaret, second daughter, of Mr. and Mrs. G, Chandler, of Te Aroha.
