ADDITIONAL SAILINGS

INTER-ISLAND SERVICES

Bookings on the inter-island steamer services over the Christmas and New Year holiday period have reached a record level this year. The Exhibition has attracted particularly heavy bookings from the South Island and many sailings have been full for weeks past. This is usual for the peak nights just before Christmas, but this year the heavy demand has been spread over a much longer period than last year for instance, and a number of special sailings have had to be arranged to cope with the extraordinarily heavy bookings. Details of the sailings of the ferry steamers between WellingtonLyttelton and Wellington-Picton-Nelson, are as follows: —

WELLINGTON-LYTTELTON

In the Wellington-Lyttelton service the Wahine will make four daylight sailings from Wellington—on Thursday, December 21; Friday, December 22; Saturday, December 23; and Tuesday, January 2. The Rangatira will make similar sailings from Lyttelton on the same days. Extra sailings will also be made on Sunday, December 24, and Sunday, January 7, by the Wahine from Wellington, and the Rangatira from Lyttelton. Apart from the extra sailings, the usual timetable will be maintained, including sailings on Christmas Day.

WELLINGTON-NELSON.

In the Wellington-Nelson service there will be several extra sailings. The usual timetable wil be maintained till and including Friday, December 22. From then on till after the New Year, the timetable will be:—

Leave Wellington: December 23, Matangi, 8.15 a.m., and Arahura, 7.30 p.m.; December 24, Matangi, 7.30 p.m.; December 26, Matangi, 7.30 p.m.; December 27, Arahura, 7.30 p.m.; December 28, Matangi, 7.30 p.m.; December 29, Arahura, 7.30 p.m.; December 30, Matangi, 7.30 p.m.; January 1, Arahura, midnight; January 2, Matangi, 7.30 p.m.

Leave Nelson: December 23, Arahura, 7.30 a.m., and Matangi, 7.30 p.m.; December 26, Matangi, 8.15 a.m., and Arahura, 7.30 p.m.; December 27, Matangi, 7.30 p.m.; December 23. Arahura, 7.30 p.m.; December 29, Matangi, 7.30 p.m.; December 30, Arahura, 7.30 p.m.; Jr.nuary 1, Matangi, midnight; January 2, Arahura, 7.30 p.m.

WELLINGTON-PICTON.

The Tamahine, in the Picton service, will make several additional sailings, and her timetable will be: —

Leave Wellington: December 20, 2.45 p.m.; December 22, 12.15 p.m. and 11 p.m.; December 23, 1.15 p.m. and 11 p.m.; December 25, midnight; December 27, 9.30 a.m.; December 29, 2.45 p.m.; December 30, 1.15 p.m.; January 2, 9.30 a.m.; thereafter as usual.

Leave Picton: December 21, 2.45 p.m.; December- 22, 6 p.m.; December 23, 7 a.m. and 6" p.m.; December 24, 6 p.m.; December 26, 4.30 p.m.; December 27, 4.30 p.m.; December 29, 9.30 p.m.; December 31, .6 p.m.; January 2, 4.30 p.m.; thereafter as usual.

The Tamahine's summer timetable, which will begin on Friday, December 15, will be as follows: —

Leave Wellington: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 2.45 p.m.; Saturday, 1.15 p.m. Leave Picton: Tuesday, Thursday, 2.45 p.m.; Friday, 9.30 p.m.; Sunday, 6 p.m. Additional excursion trips to Picton will be made by the Wahine on Tuesday, December 26. and by the Rangatira on Monday, January 1, leaving Wellington at 8 a.m. and Picton at 2.30 p.m.
