KING'S PLAY BACK

ZINCALI CHANGES STABLES

(Special from "Irvington.")

CHRISTCHURCH, December 8,

King's Play was recently placed back in work again at Addington after a short spell, and S. A. Edwards has him looking in excellent order. Apart from his disappointing November efforts, King's Play has been responsible for outstanding form since coming from the north to be trained in Canterbury, and he has clearly demonstrated that he ranks with the best pacers in commission at the momenti especially over the longer distances. His next engagement will be in the Ashburton Trotting Cup, in which tha tight limit of 4min 26sec will find him nicely placed in the handicaps, and a return to his best form would find him. a dangerous contender

One of the latest additions to th« team being trained by L. A. Maidens is Zincali, formerly in M. B. Edwards'a stable. Zincali possesses great speed and stamina and is well capable ot reaching good company, but to date his progress has been handicapped by his bad barrier manners. Maiden* has enjoyed a deal of success with, erratic performers, and it is possible that Zincali will respond to his training.

E. Carlyon has Bournemouth moving along attractively in his work at Addington, and if private essays are' a good guide this trotter will not be long in losing his maiden status. However, when formerly trained by G. Mouritz, he was responsible for some good track work without repeating it in public, and he will need to show an improvement in this respect before he comes into favour with local track-watchers.

Although it has taken Judgment a considerable time to settle down, the manner in which he has won in his last two starts suggests that he is a greatly-improved trotter and one likely to go on to= better class. He is racing solidly at the moment and has speed and stamina well above most-in his present company. .

The Cambridge-owned Reception continues to please track-watchers at Addington, and she bears a greatly-im-proved appearance since racing at headquarters over the November carnival. She gave an impressive display to finish second in her race at the matinee meeting last Tuesday, when. she recorded fast time from post to post from a long way back* in the handicaps, and she will be in demand when she parades at the Tirriaru Meeting next week. . ;
