The Minister of Internal Affairs (the Hon. W. E. Parry) left for Auckland this afternoon. He expects to remain in Auckland for about" a week.

The Minister of Lands (the Hon. F. Langstone) returned to Wellington this morning. „

The resignation of Mr. A. Donald from the position of Wellington Education Board representative on the Wairarapa College Board of Governors was accepted with regret by today's meeting of the Education Board, and Mr. J. D. O'Connor Avas appointed in his place. Mr. Donald has left Masterton to reside at Paekakariki.

Mr. J. D. O'Connor took his seat at today's meeting of the ■ Wellington Education Board for the first time. He was welcomed by the chairman. (Mr. W. V. Dyer), who expressed his confidence that Mastertbn' would be well represented.by Mr. O'Connor. Mr. Dyer also welcomed Mr. G. M. Henderson, who recently returned from a trip abroad.

Passengers who arrived by steamer from the south this morning included Messrs. J. R. McKenzie, N. E. Tingey, H. Morpeth, W. A. Bodkin,' M.P. for Central Otago, and Mr.' W. W. Mulholland, Dominion president- ■of the Farmers' Union.

Mr. V. Jones, secretary of the Wellington V.M.C.A., has been appointed V.M.C.A. representative to accompany the first New Zealand echelon overseas. An appointment will be made by the V.M.C.A. board next week to fill the vacancy during Mr. Jones's absence from New Zealand. Mr. Jone3 came to Wellington two years ago from Australia to take up the duties of secretary in succession to Mr. L. Greenberg.

Mr. Robert J. G. Smith, of Wellington, has returned after spending some months on the staff of the New Zealand Pavilion at the Golden Gate Exposition held recently at' Treasure Island, San Francisco, U.S.A.

Rabbi J. Danglow, of St. Kilda, Melbourne, arrived at Auckland yesterday by the Monterey on a holiday visit to New Zealand. He was accompanied by his wife.

Major-General Sir William... Sinclair Burgess, formerly Generai.Officer Commanding the New Zealand .Military Forces, returned to Wellington today by train.

Mr. M. E. Carroll, of the Auckland District Railway Office, has been promoted to.the position of stationmastef at Papakura in succession to Mr. B. C. Atkinson, who has retired, on superannuation.

The Rev. G. H. McNeur;' veteran founder of the Canton Mission of the New Zealand Presbyterian Church, and Mrs. McNeur are,to vle~ave Canton early next month on their way back to New Zealand.

The Very Rev. T. E. Riddle and Mrs. Riddle, of the Presbyterian mission at .Jagadhri, Punjab, India, will leave by the Maetsuycker for Singapore at the" end of the week on their way back to the missiqn field.

Mr. Harold Gatty, representative in New Zealand for Pan-American Airways, left Auckland for Suva by the Monterey last night. He was accompanied by Mrs. Gatty,. .
