AT NATIONAL CLUB
WOMEN'S SECTION'S PARTY
Rain did not prevent those members of the women's section of the National Party who gathered in the clubrooms on Monday from enjoying the party which had been arranged for them and to which they were welcomed by the president, Mrs. ■G. F. Stone. The pleasant rooms had been decorated to the design of Mrs. W. G. Little, giving the effect of an orange grove.
Mr. H. F. Toogood, who spoke in the unavoidable absence of the Hon. Adam Hamilton, expressed his confidence in the work of the women members of the party and encouraged them to further efforts. Before supper and dancing a musical programme, arranged by Mrs. Thornley and Mrs. Menard was presented, those taking part being Mrs. William McLeod and Mr. V. Jones (songs)- and Mrs. Luxford (.recitations). Accompaniments were played by Mrs. Searle and Mrs. Wakelin. Mrs. Searle and Miss Hilda Beresford also played music for dancing, the latter singing a humorous song as a prelude. Competitions were arranged by Mrs. Russell and Miss McGregor,. ,_..:...:
Mrs. Parkinson was in charge of the supper arrangements.
