The Shanghai correspondent ;of the United Press of America says an announcement ; sanctioned .by the Japanese commandant in the Tientsin area, Lieut.-General Homma. promising the immediate opening of new searching stations at the entrances to the' British . Concession .to,- fac,ijiita,te r traffic arid, the increased shipment of coal, the shortage of which has causedacute discomfort in the concession, leads to the conclusion that the Japanese are easing the blockade, presumably as the result of American representations and vigorous criticism by the Assistant Secretary of State, Mr. Sumner Welles, and Senator Fittman.V ;•.
