SERIOUS POSITION ARISING
Import restrictions and their effect upon the building industry were fully discussed at the annual meeting of the Wellington Builders' and Contractors' Association, held last evening.'
Grave concern was expressed that unless something is done to relieve the situation and to permit the importation of materials required for house .building and other building operations, it will have, a: very detrimental effect on the building industry and will create a serious state of unemployment. ■
A representative committee was appointed to go fujly into the matter with a view to obtaining facts and particulars for submission to thesGovernment in -the hope that the need for immediate-action will be recognised.
