HALLOWE'EN GAMES

It is almost as much' fun to plan a Hallowe'en party as to attend one. If it is going to be in. a schoolroom or a hall, ask your friepds to. help to turn it into a fitting haunt for witches and hobgoblins. String up paper cats and witches, a pumpkin..jack-o-lahtern here, a mask there, and you'll work wonders in a few short hours. A GHOST GAME. This game is called "A Ghost of a Chance." One, person agrees to be Pluto. Pluto goes into'a room as black as possible and takes his seat upon his chair. Soon there conies a rap at the door. "Enter," says Pluto in a sepulchral voice. • • t -The .door opens and a ghost ;comes in, comes in out of darkness into darkness. . The door is closed. Pluto speaks again: "I am Pluto, god of the lower world. Answer these three questions."" Then Pluto asks any. three questions he wishes, and the ghost must answer them, in; a., whisper;, noti necessarily speaking the truth.. It may be any kind of whisper provided it can be heard and understood- by Pluto. From this whisper Pluto tries to guess the ghost's.identity, for a correct guess means that Pluto will be free to return to the upper. world . and that the ghost will take his place on the. gloomy throne. ; But as long as he fails to guess correctly, Pluto must stay in Hades and challenge one ghost after another. ' RELAY RACES. Here are two relay races .which are great fun. ■ ■ ■-' b Divide the guests into two teams. Seat them facing "each other, arid give each leader a needle threaded with stout thread, and a bowl containing as many wet pumpkin seeds as there are' players ;on his side. He threads a seed, then passes the threaded needle and bowl rif seeds to the next member of his team. The game is to see which side first threads all its seeds. And it's not so simple as it sounds, either. : As for the other race, which is certain tp make the rafters.;- ring with laughter, divide • each team \in half and have the halves facing each other a good distance apart. Gave each person a straw. On the out-stretched palm of each team leader place a small paper witch,- or pumpkin, or any appropriate figure that you have cut out of Hallowe'en paper. At a signal the- leaders pick up the figures by inhaling through their straws. They must carry them thus on the ends of their straws to the members of their teams at the opposite side of the room.' Each one must deposit'his figure in the hand of the next, player, on his team, who in turn picks it up in.the same way and carries it across the room at the. end of his straw. If he. drops the figure he must pick-it up with the straw. Not fair- using fingers.; There will be . plenty : of ; excitement —just watch your friends down on .the floor trying to pick up-that witch which wouldn't stick to the end of a straw. The object of the game, of course, is to see which team, gets through first. And you'd better, have extra paper figures handy, for some are sure to get lost in the scuffle.
