MAGISTRATE'S COURT
A sentence of one month's imprison^ ment with hard labour was imposed upon George William Hancock, a labourer, aged 27, who appeared before Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M.. ■in the Magistrate's Court today charged with, obtaining £4 10s in money from H. A. Rouse by means of a false pretence. Detective-Sergeant P. Doyle said the accused had admitted to Detective G. Hogan that he had purchased a radio set and sold it while it was still subject to the terms of a hire-purchase agreement.
John Eric 'Pullan, a labourer, aged 24, charged with being idle and disorderly in that he had insufficient lawful means of support, was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence if called upon at any time within six months.
Douglas Gordon Brough, an overseer, aged 40, who pleaded guilty to two charges of theft of carpenters' tools, was* convicted and ordered to come up for sentence if called upon at any time within six months.
