THE MASTERTON CARD
Trerithairi horses have had very little racing yet in the Dominion this season and no. victory has yet come to the centre, but with the Otaki and Masterton Meetings approaching they will soon be seen out in stronger force and they should be capable/ of securing some of the spoils at these fixtures. Otaki and Masterton in the past have been among the most profitable meetings for followers of Trentham horses.
The Masterton Meeting, which will be run on Thursday and Saturday, October 12 and 14, serves as a valuable prelude to the Wellington Meeting the following week. The programme for this year's meeting is similar to last year's, but there are some changes in the distances. The two highweight handicaps are now li miles instead of 1 mile, the Champion Hack Handicap on the second day is 1 mile instead of \i miles, and the final hack event on th£ second day is six furlongs instead of 1 mile. \ The card is an excellent one all round for horses who are working their way to form after enforced inactivity on the tracks because of unseasonable weather. The date of nomination is now Monday next, instead of tomorrow, "and the handicaps will appear on Monday week.
