The anti-cyclone to the north lias been moving slowly eastwards, being centred this morning beyond Cape Maria Van Diemen. In the south, westerly depressions have continued to pass. One rather more extensive one crossed the South Island and the southern half of the Xorth Island yesterday, bringing with it some light rain, but the weather was mainly fair to i cloudy generally with somewhat milder temperatures. Winds yesterday were chiefly moderate and from a westerly quarter, but were strong, in force in the Cook Strait region. This morning winds are light to moderate and rather variable with north-westerlies predominating. Apart from some scattered showers in the area west of Taihape the weather is fair to fine.
