CITY HOUSING
AMENDMENTS TO ACT
Amendments to the Wellington City Housing Act, 1938, are contained in a clause in the Local Legislation Bill, introduced by Governor-General's Message in the House of Representatives last evening.
.One amendment increases; the limit, of advances under mortgage from £1350 to f£1515, and authorises an increase in borrowing in respect of guarantees from £25,000 to £50,000.
Other provisions consist largely of minor alterations in the Act which are being made to meet objections raised by a firm of solicitors advising one of the lending institutions. The amend: ment, it is explained, in no way alters the policy of the council as expressed in the Act.
