SHIELD-HOLDERS HERE
MATCH WITH WELLINGTON
Continuing their northern tour the Southland Rugby representatives- arrived in Wellington from Christchurch yesterday and were at practice today in view of their match with Wellington's, representatives at Athletic Park on Wednesday. Southland are not playing Shield matches on • the tour, but that does not lessen interest in Wednesday's event, which is looked upon as the most important fixture for Wellington this season. The visitors have won all their matches this season, and Wellington, too, have an unbeaten record in A matches.
The selection of the Wellington team for Wednesday's match has been made by Mr. Alec McDonald as follows: — Full-back, J. M. Taylor; three-quar-ters, A. Wright, R. Veitch, J. R. Sherratt; five-eighths, L. Thomas, A. Thompson; half-back, E. W. Tindill; back-row forward, E. Todd; middle-row forwards, G. Wales, J. Gunn, F. J. Cassidy, M. McG. Cooper (captain); frontrow forwards, A. Kenny, A. Lambourn, C. M. Ongley. Emergencies: Backs, Vile, Fulton, Dwyer; forwards, Craw-ford-Smith and Hegglun. The players are to train at the Wellington gymnasium at, 7.30 tonight.
