ENGLAND'S FOOD NEEDS
BIGGER HARVEST SOUGHT

LONDON, September 3
The Royal assent has been given to all the emergency legislation which was passed through both Houses of Parliament yesterday and today. The Minister of Agriculture has appointed a war agricultural executive committee in each county of England and Wales. The committee will be given as free a hand as possible to increase the production of foodstuffs. Its immediate task is. to see that additional land is brought under the plough with all speed. The aim is to obtain for the 1940 harvest an increase of about 1,500,000 acres in the tillage area of England and Wales.
Sir Archibald Sinclair and other Liberal leaders in both Houses of Parliament declined to join the Government, but assured Mr. Chamberlain that they will support all necessary war measures. «*
Sir Archibald Sinclair said in the House: "The world knows that the British people are inexorably determined to end this Nazi domination for ever and to build an order based.on justice and freedom in Europe."
The House of Commons rose at 4.36 p.m. until 2.45 p.m. tomorrow.
The Chief Government Whip, Captain Margesson, announced that the seat of Government is to remain in London as long as possible.
