MANUFACTURERS' RESPONSE

Commenting on the appeal of the Acting Prime Minister for co-operation from all classes of the community in the national emergency, Mr. W. H. I Stevens, president of the Wellington | Manufacturers' Association, stated to--day that his association joins with .the New Zealand Manufacturers' Federation in expressing to the Government and the people' of the-POminion-its sense of .loyalty: and its desire to cooperate wholeheartedly in the production and supply of. goods and materials which are essential for the purposes of defence arid the urgent needs of the people. ' ' • '■■'■< "For some time past a defence committee of the Wellington Manufacturers' Association has had under consideration ways and .means of maintaining factory production in the event 6f-:a national emergency," said Mr. Stevens. "This defence: sub-committee met this morning, and: it was then decided to get into touch with the Hon. P G. Sullivan, the Minister of Supply, and Mr. G. A.. Pascoe, Controller 'of Factory •Production, ' immediately, and'! to offer to ■ the Government, through them, the -wholehearted sup-port-of the-manufacturers and the services of the mahufacturers' organisations in supplying the- requirements 6i thet nation."
