CUP PRESENTED

. After the match between the Wellington. B representatives and the Centurions at Athletic Park on Saturday afternoon the president of the Wellington Rugby Union, Mr, E. Price, presented Athletic with the National Mutual Challenge Cup: and congratulated them in winning the trophy in the match tiiat day which, he said, marked their third defeat of Wellington during \h<T season.- '"'■:■ .:. !; ..... .... . ...■

T The cup was accepted on behalf of the Athletic team by Mr. Ken Guy, who paid tribute to ft'elllngton: for the fine game they had given them and on their success hi winning the Championship competition. The opportunity was taken also to toast the health of the Centurions, the toast, in the absence from Wellingon of the chairman of the W.R.F.U. management committee being proposed by Mr. Henry Morgan, who paid a splendid tribute to the.new club for the game it had played. , * ... , The health of the club was drunk with musical. Honours, after which Mr. J. Prendeville responded on behalf of the Centurions. By next year, subject to what happened overseas, he hoped that the club would have been built up to the .position in which it would hare some good emergencies. The teams which ■ represented the Wellington and Manawatu referees in a match at Emerson Street Park were also present, the visitors being welcomed by Mr. A. de Clifton.
