WELLINGTON AND HAWKE'S BAY DRAW
CENTURIONS LOSE FIRST MATCH
Wellington's principal Rugby event on Sauirday was their engagement With the Hawke's Say representatives, at McLean Park, Napier. The match, though territorially greatly' in • Wellington's favour, was for the. most part fast and exciting and resulted in a draw, 6 points all. At Athletic Park, Wellington and Athletic (both with weakened teams) met for the National Mutual Cup, the game resulting in a win for Athletic by 17 points to 6. In its first match the newly-formed Centurions Club lost to a Wellington representative side in a fairly close match. Canterbury earned the, distinqtion of being the first team to cross the Southland line this season, but were beaten by the Ranfurly Shield holders by id points to 8. The match itself was not for the trophy.
