AT CANTON ISLAND
THE CALIFORNIA CLIPPER

The California Clipper reached Noumea at 2.20 p.m. on Saturday (New Zealand time) after an uneventful flight. The clipper took off again from Noumea for Canton Island at 6.47 a.m. (New Zealand time) today.
She was diverted to the east of her normal track to fly to Fiji, special permission having been granted by British authorities. She arrived at Suva at 12.35 ,p.m. (New Zealand time) and cir.cled in the vicinity at low altitudes for about 20 minutes before proceeding on a drect course for Canton Island.
Fourteen hours 24 minutes after leaving Noumea, the flying-boat reached Canton at 9.11 p.m. (New Zealand time).
