GROWERS TO REMAIN
PROCLAMATION LIFTED
The proclamation' for the taking of land at Ifutt and Taita ior housing purposes, is to b^. lifted by the Government, and the market gardeners are to remain on their land, according to an announcement made last week at a social gathering of the market gardeners and their families. . Mr. F. S. Hewer occupied the chair. Mr. B. V. Cooksley, chairman of the committee,; said that as a result of a conference 'with-"members o£ Cabinet it was definite that the proclamation would be lifted in the near future. The part of the Acting Prime Minister (the Hon. P. Fraser) was outstanding, and it was apparent that he fully appreciated the viewpoint of the growers. Mr. H. E. Combs, M.P., also deserved the thanks of the meeting.
