NEW AWARD PROPOSALS

The questions of wages, overtime, and holidays for roofing tilers, slaters, and workers on fibrous or bituminous roofs or floors in the Wellington industrial district were the only important ones left unsettled when the Conciliation Council which met yesterday afternoon to consider a new award adjourned until September 4, Practically all the other clauses of the proposed , award were agreed upon. The Conciliation Commissioner (Mr. M. J. Reardon) presided. My. H. J. Bishop- was advocate for the employers, and their assessors were Messrs. R. W. L. Darroch (Wellington), J. Penman (Wellington), and J. Moon (Auckland). For the workers Mr. P. M. Butler was advocate, and the assessors were Messrs. G. M. Lacey, .F, W. J. Griischow, D. J. Keane, and F. Morton, all of Wellington.
