SOUTHLAND'S TOUR
STRONG TEAM SELECTED
The Ranfurly Shield, holders, Southland, have a Shield match with Ashburton at Invercargill today. On Tuesday Southland's representatives are to set out on a northern tour, which will include a match with Wellington at Athletic Park on Wednesday week (September 6). Players selected for the tour are:—
Backs: J. W. Fleming (Invercargill), A.. W. Wosney (Old Boys), R. G. Mahoney (Invercargill), A. G. Sutherland (Invercargill), M. P. Grace (Marist), C. K. Saxton (Pirates), J. Purdue (Invercargill), E. Calvert (Pirates), R. Gibb (Central), C. McKenzie (Invercargill), N. Stewart (Northern).
Forwards: L. George (Invercargill), W. Sherriffs (Star), C. Soper (Northern), R. H. Ward (Western), S. Purdue (Invercargill), B. Herron (Eastern), G. H. Graham (Star), A. R. Marshall (Old Boys), T. Fordyce (Western), J. Newall (Marist), A. West (Bluff), F. McEwan (Pirates).
Next Wednesday Southland play South Canterbury at Timaru and next Saturday the touring side meets Canterbury at Christchurch.
