(Received August 23, noon.) JERUSALEM, August 22. The steamer Parita is sinking half a mile from Tel Aviv and 800 Jewish refugees have been taken off.

The Turkish authorities on August 10 refused to permit Czech Jewish refugees to land from the steamer Parita. The Parita was unable to take them elsewhere owing to her being without fuel. The refugees embarked at Constanza and were at sea for many weeks in a hopeless quest, for a port. The Parita also lacked money for repairs, food, and other necessities. On August 11 the Jews mutinied and forced the captain ashore to prevent the ship leaving Turkish waters. i
