PUBLIC SERVICE
EFFICIENCY TESTS
PROTEST FROM PORIRUA
Male nursing attendants employed at the Porirua Mental Hospital met recently and decided to place on record an emphatic protest against the efficiency examinations as outlined in the Public Service official circular of July 17 on the following grounds:— 1. That the examinations are unnecessary for practical purposes for all officers who have passed their senior State examinations. 2. That a definite hardship would be caused to those officers of a mature [age who comprise the majority of the male nursing staff. I 3. That the efficiency *est as outlined is a misnomer and, if taken as a deciding factor for promotion beyond the rank of senior attendant, would prove to be a retrograde step towards the efficiency of the Department. I 4. That the Fublic Service Association be asked to press for the withdrawal of the efficiency tests in their present form.
