WORSER BAY FUNCTION

The Worser Bay Methodist Church held a community sing and vocal and instrumental competition in the church on Saturday evening, there being a large attendance. All the competitors showed skill and thought Li their items. The chairman, Mr. N. L. Chisholm, apologised for the absence of the minister, the Rev. E. S. Hoddinott. The results of the competitions were as follows: —Recitation (under 8), Betty Morris 1, Melva Mumme 2; pianoforte solo (under 17), Betty Morris 1; reading at sight, Miss E. M. Prescott 1, Mrs. L. Masters 2; vocal duet, Messrs. Wilkes and Mackie 1, Messrs. Williams and Mackie 2; impromptu speech, Owen Roberts 1, Neville Lobb 2; men's solo, Mr. Williams 1, Mr. Mackie 2; impromptu conversation, A. Wallbank and N. Lobb 1, J. Walker and C. Dawson 2; quartet, Messrs; ' Williams, Wilkes, Mackie, and Laycock 1, Mesdames Prescott, Hill, -and Messrs. Williams and Mackie 2. The judges were Miss Nancy Martin, L.R.S.M., and Mr. Wakelin. The awards were presented by the chairman. '
