INCREASED ACTIVITY
(British Official Wireless.) (Received August 18, 9 a.m.) RUGBY, August 16. The Board of Trade index of industrial activity in the United Kingdom in the second quarter of this" year shows an increase of 1.8 per cent, over the March quarter and 9.6 per cent, over the June quarter of 1938. The June quarter index of 133.4 per ' cent, was substantially the same as for I the June quarter of 1937, which has 'been exceeded only in the December quarter of that year, when the index stood at 136.4.
