CONVERSATIONS IN ROME
(Received August 18, 1.20 p.m.) LONDON, August 17. The Rome correspondent of "Th» Times" states that the' British Ambassador called on the Foreign Minister, Count Cianb. The impression that peace soundings will continue is re* inforced by a conversation between Cardinal Maglione and the Polish Ambassador to the Holy See and simultaneous conversations between other prelates and members of the Italian and German Embassies.
